I think the vertical view, as here, is clearer. It’s the view when playing, after all.
I’ve only just found these videos, and it’s great to see old friends/opponents like Sean and John Clark in the limelight. Great for the game to get this coverage, I hope youtube helps more people to discover just how exciting and challenging this game really is! More, PLEASE!!
I think there is a mis-use/misunderstanding over the word “ascendency” here. BG has been increasing in popularity over the past few decades, as has poker in the last ten years or so. It’s hard to see how poker could get much higher, but BG certainly is rising, with increasing tournaments and TV coverage.
I think it more accurate to say “in the ascendant” (ie rising) than “ascendancy”. Of course, poker prize-money is higher, but so what?
is watching the action from the player’s perspective better, i.e. as used in this clip, or is angle used in the High Stakes Backgammon (World Championships) shows the way to go? I think I prefer the latter. Poker has peaked. Backgammon in the ascendancy.
Yes, the sixth and final season of LOST will start airing in either late January or early February 2010, through to May. Halfway through Season 3 the writers worked out a plan with ABC to set an end-date for the show, so that the remaining seasons could be better-paced and have the answers revealed at a satisfactory rate; they could chose either one more full-length season, or three mini-seasons. They went for the second option, which is why Seasons 4 and 5, and now 6, are shorter than normal seasons (Season 6 will have 17 episodes).
I can see the Cowboys as a playoff team, and I love the detail with which you went into projecting each games point spread and giving a little analysis. I'm a Packers fan, but follow anything NFL related and I think I'd have to agree with your 10-6 prediction although I think they miss the playoffs with that record. I see them behind Philly and NYG in their division and losing the wild card spot.
The difference I have from yourself is, as far as particular games. First off, I think they beat Tampa Bay and badly. In their 3rd game, I don't see them being that big of favorite over Carolina and I see them losing that game. I also see the Cowboys losing to San Diego and New York (in both games), however, I think the Cowboys will win both games against Washington and beat the Saints in New Orleans.
I also see the Cowboys splitting the series with the Eagles, as you do, but I think the games will be reversed, and both teams will win in hostile environments.
Love the post though, and like your input on games, despite the fact I'm guessing you're a Cowboys fan.
West
1.Spurs (I think they're better than Lakers with RJ)
2.Lakers
3.Mavs (With signing Marion, they're better and Josh can fire up the bench)
4. Nuggets
5. Blazers
6. Hornets
7. Suns/Clippers
8. Warriors

Hitting that 5 is like 2 pair getting flushed away in poker.

Backgammon is in an ascendancy like snowball fights in Death Valley when it snows. Get the point?
